SgurrEnergy is an international renewables engineering consultancy specialising in renewable energy, power generation and transmission, including wind, wave, hydro, solar and bioenergy. Our success to date is based on in-depth process and engineering knowledge, applied in a practical manner to provide the best possible solutions and advice to our clients. Owing to continued growth and high demand for its services, the company is now seeking to recruit a principal civil engineer to join our expanding team based in Beijing.
1. Provide on-site monitoring of the civil construction works (including testing and commissioning) for onshore and offshore wind turbine projects specifically site investigation, wind turbine and transformer foundation (including on-site concrete manufacture), access road and substation building construction.
2. Monitor, review and report on the delivery of projects against the approved execution schedule.
3. Assess the quality of work on site against the specification and the relevant Chinese standards.
4. Prepare technical specifications for ground investigations and general civil works specific to offshore and onshore wind farms.
5. Translate technical specifications and other documentation from design institutes, construction companies, wind turbine manufacturers and other consultants including construction supervision companies.
6. Review technical documents; calculations, specifications, reports and drawings against technical specifications and the relevant Chinese standards.
7. Attend off site meetings and surveys.
8. Provide technical support to clients.
9. Other ad hoc support as and when required.
1. Degree qualification in Civil Engineering or similar.
2. Significant postgraduate experience in Civil Engineering in China. Experience in the wind energy industry would be an advantage.
3. Fluent in written and spoken English and Mandarin, other languages would be an advantage.
4. Competent PC user – Microsoft Office software such as excel, word, access and project. A knowledge of AutoCAD would be an advantage.

6. The successful candidate will be required to produce reports/technical queries for clients and so attention to detail, reliability, good organisational skills are paramount.
7. You should have excellent communication skills, coupled with a flexible and proactive approach to work to thrive in this busy team.
8. You will be required to produce original copies of degrees and certificates. Evidence of prior work experience with references will also be required.
1. Experience in the specification and review of site investigations for major civil engineering projects.
2. Experience in the design of foundations.
